Legal issues to publishing

  • Children's books lend themselves to merchandising, cartoon, multimedia and trademark potentialities. Although not all children's books will be so popular, the possibilities have to be accounted for.
  • If there is a different author and illustrator, copyright and trademarking must be allocated fairly.
  • Revised editions must be set out and clearly included in the author/publisher contract.
